The “Learn Linux” pages were begun as a means to share information about problems that we had ourselves encountered and then struggled to solve. The free sharing of ideas and information is a significant part of the success of free software in general and of GNU/Linux in particular. We have benefited from those who toiled before us — countless thousands of people who have written software and documentation and solved many of the problems that inevitably arose. So, acknowledging the dedication and effort of people with greater knowledge or experience, we here offer our own tiny contribution to the pool of information that is available to those who wish to have control of their computer systems:
